Take the Career Development Challenge

Canada Career Week is November 3-7, 2014. It is a week dedicated to all things Career Development which means it is a week dedicated to YOU! Career Development is an ongoing process that involves a series of decisions about how you want to live your life and the type of work you want to do. It is complex and dynamic. That is why there are people like me all across Canada, and the world for that matter, who can help!

In one of my roles as the Executive Director of the Career Development Association of Alberta (CDAA) I am fortunate to work with hundreds of Career Development Practitioners who support individuals in the area of Career Development, as well as a number of amazing organizations and associations who provide services to those practitioners and work hard to promote the value of Career Development services to Canadians.

This year one such organization, the Canadian Council for Career Development (CCCD), has created an exciting challenge for all Canadians – the Canadian Career Development Challenge.

The Canadian Career Development Challenge will assess your Career Development knowledge and motivation and provide you with a “skill” and “will” score along with all sorts of helpful tips and tricks along the way and a list of resources that you can access to help you with the next step of your Career Development journey. It is a quick (5 – 10 minute) and fun way to see where your Career Development strengths are and what areas you might like to work on. Remember that Career Development is an ongoing process of exploration and growth.

Career Development issues affect each and every one of us throughout the lifespan. Please take the challenge and then challenge your friends and family to take the challenge. Use #cccdchallenge on social media to follow or join in the conversation. Once all the results are tallied and analyzed the data will be released. It will be exciting to see how Career Development knowledge and motivation compares cross the country.
